FOR HOUSTON HOMES
Houston Residential Composting: Odor-Free, Mess-Free
Finally, a Houston composting service designed for your home. OnFarmCompost uses sealed, kitchen-sized containers that lock in smells and keep out pests. We swap your full bucket for a fresh one on schedule and reward you with the Compost Dividend — finished compost for your garden.
The #1 question: Will my garage smell?
No. This is the single thing that stops Houston homeowners from signing up, and it's exactly the problem we solved.
Our sealed 5-gallon bucket has a gasket-sealed lid. It doesn't vent into your garage, pantry, or patio. In August humidity, that seal is the difference between a clean kitchen and a fruit-fly infestation. Open buckets fail this test — sealed containers don't.
How the clean-swap works
Fill your bucket
Drop in food scraps as you cook. The sealed lid locks in smell.
Set it out
On pickup day, leave your sealed bucket at the door.
Get a clean one
We swap it for a fresh, sanitized bucket. No scrubbing. Ever.
Your Compost Dividend
From your scraps to your garden. Finished compost is returned to subscribers periodically — black, crumbly, earthy-smelling soil that started as your own kitchen waste.
No garden? Donate your share to a local regenerative farm or Houston community garden we partner with. Either way, your waste becomes soil — not landfill methane.
FAQ
Will the bucket smell in my garage during a Houston summer?
No. The bucket has a gasket-sealed lid that traps decomposition gases and blocks fruit flies. Across Houston and Richmond homes, a sealed bucket left in a garage for one to two weeks in August produces less odor than an open kitchen trash can.
How big is the container?
Our standard residential container is a sealed 5-gallon bucket — perfect for a family of four. It fits neatly in a pantry, garage, or on a covered patio.
How often do you pick up?
Most residential customers choose weekly or biweekly clean-swap. We leave a clean, sealed bucket and take the full one. You never wash the bin — that's our job.
Do I really get the Compost Dividend?
Yes. Finished compost is returned to subscribers periodically based on volume and season. If you don't garden, you can donate your share to a local regenerative farm or community garden we partner with.
What can I put in?
Fruit and vegetable scraps, coffee grounds and filters, tea bags, eggshells, bread, grains, and soiled paper napkins or towels. Keep out plastics, wrappers, pet waste, and liquids.
I don't have a garden. What happens to my compost?
No problem. You can donate your Compost Dividend to a local Houston community garden or regenerative farm we partner with.
